Spring is finally here and anyone who has slipped over the winter is now lacing his running shoes. The beautiful weather lures us into the open air, so no wonder that Vienna’s streets are increasingly becoming a training ground for many joggers. After all, if you want to do sports, you do not necessarily have to leave the city, you can also do your training here.
Our favorite route is of course those along the Vienna Ring Road. Here, you can combine sports with sightseeing, as it leads past some of Vienna’s most beautiful and important buildings. A round about the ring is 5.3 kilometers long and can therefore be completed comfortably in about 30 minutes.
If this is not enough, you can also extend your route: At the start from the Burggasse at the level of the St. Ulrichs Church over the Bellariastraße to the ring and back again extends it to 6.8 kilometers. You will be around 8 kilometers, when you start at the town hall and from there the round about the Dr.-Karl-Renner-Ring, the Schottenring and the Franz-Josefs-Kai. Continue along the Aspernbrücke over the Vordere Zollamtstraße to the Stadtpark. There you can take a detour until you come out again at the Lothringerstrasse, and then walk back across Karlsplatz and the Opernring.
By the way, on Sunday, April 10, 2016, the participants of the 33rd Vienna City Marathon will also be running over the Vienna Ring Road.
We wish all the starters a lot of success!
